HARVEST ANNOUNCES CLOSING OF KNOC ARRANGEMENT
Calgary, Alberta – December 22, 2009 – Harvest Energy Trust ("Harvest") (TSX:HTE.UN) (NYSE:HTE) is pleased to announce that the previously announced plan of arrangement (the "Arrangement") involving Korea National Oil Corporation ("KNOC") has closed today with the acquisition of all the issued and outstanding trust units by KNOC’s Canadian subsidiary, KNOC Canada Ltd., for C$10.00 per unit.
As a result of the acquisition the Harvest trust units will be delisted from both the Toronto Stock Exchange ("TSX") and the New York Stock Exchange ("NYSE"). The NYSE has advised that the trust units will cease trading on that exchange on or about December...

NORTH ATLANTIC AWARDS OVER A HALF-MILLION DOLLARS IN SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year, for the past 11 years, North Atlantic has been awarding entry-level scholarships to full-time students all across Newfoundland and Labrador. To date, we have awarded a total of $552,000 to 412 students.
This year we are honouring our 2009 scholarship winners — 46 students sharing a total of $59,000.
Our scholarships are classed in three categories.
1)Internal awards are for our employees' children, totalling $1,000 for each full-time, first year student. This year there were 19 winners.
2)Memorial University awards consist of 12 scholarships, $2,000 each, plus one $3,000 award for the top marks overall.

NORTH ATLANTIC WELCOMES AND SUPPORTS NEW OHS SAFETY REGULATIONS
Today, Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) announced new and updated workplace safety regulations for Newfoundland and Labrador. In keeping with our sound safety culture, North Atlantic supports and welcomes these new regulations.
For the most part, these new government regulations will not have a significant impact on our operation or our employees since we’ve had similar policies in place in our company for some time now. For example, the new OHS regulations include procedural updates for confined space entry and fall protection — both of which we already perform according to proven safety procedures.

$5,500 FOR JANEWAY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
On June 7, North Atlantic and its employees donated $5,500 to the Janeway, during the hospital’s annual fundraiser telethon.
This year's donation draws from North Atlantic’s Safety for Charity fund and direct from employee payroll deductions.
“Because of our employee’s outstanding safety performance, this year's Safety for Charity fund is at an all-time-high. For each day that we work injury-free, our company deposits funds into a charity account. These funds are then donated to charity twice a year. NORTH ATLANTIC EMPLOYEE WALKING CLUB RAISE $3,623 FOR CHARITY DinnerTime Dodgers send the cheque to Daffodil Place
Health and wellness is alive and walking at North Atlantic. Each day, refinery and marketing employees take to the street on their lunch break to keep fit and to raise funds for the charity of their choice.
This year the 56-member dinnertime walking club clocked nearly 7,000 kilometres, which translates into $3,623 for Daffodil Place.
