Right here in Newfoundland, more than 550 highly skilled North Atlantic employees work side-by-side to make and market some of the cleanest, lowest-sulphur fuels in the world. And they export those clean fuels around the world.

Over the years, more than $1 billion has been invested in our refinery. These growing investments help ensure a safe, clean, and efficient operation. As a result, we are enjoying our strongest safety performance in history and we've slashed sulphur dioxide emissions 85 per cent. Both employee safety and environmental protection are critical factors in our business--factors we strive to improve on every day.

In the beginning, much of North Atlantic's investments focused on upgrading and replacing outdated and aging refinery equipment -- investments that go a long way to protect people and the planet.

Some of our more recent investments focus on growing North Atlantic's competitive advantage in the highly cyclical oil industry.

Some of North Atlantic's most recent expansions include:

$23 million, 300,000-barrel Butane Storage Facility. $6 million gasoline unit upgrade $35 million diesel unit upgrade $30 million visbreaker upgrade $300 million debottleneck project (ongoing)
